May 1st “A Day Without An Immigrant: El gran paro americano 2006.”

Rochester's Immigrant Rights group has made plans for its May 1st solidarity action.

It "will consist of a march and demonstration very similar to the one we held on April 10th, starting at the Federal Building and ending at St. Michael’s Church. In addition we will incorporate the following changes:

a. Push back the assembly time to 4:30 pm, with the march to begin at
5:00, to make it easier for workers who have to travel into Rochester fromoutlying towns to participate.
b. Take a shorter, more direct route from downtown to St Michael’s Church.

c. Working with two weeks advance notice, we hope to gain the support of
more organizations and the participation of more immigrants and supporters. We suggested a goal of doubling the turnout we achieved on April 10."
