European-Haudenosaunee meetup in Ganondagan

May 12th and 13th--Living History at Ganondagan State Historic Site, 1488 State Route 444, Victor, New York.

In 1669 the French explorer La Salle met with members of the Seneca nation at a site just south of today's Victor, New York. This Saturday and Sunday living historians from across the US and Canada will recreate this historic meeting at Ganondagan, New York’s only Native American State Historic Site. Visit with both Iroquois and Colonial people dressed in authentic 17th century clothing. There will be French, Jesuit priests, Seneca, and Dutch traders as well as master artisans of Native American and early Colonial arts who will demonstrate throughout the day. Watch as LaSalle and his party are received by the inhabitants of Ganondagan, try your hand at Seneca archery, a tomahawk throw, and listen to lectures on this most interesting time period. This event is geared towards education and hands on fun. Daily Admission: $5 to the public, $3 Friends of Ganondagan members, seniors, and students. Two day discounted tickets will also be available at the gate.
