Design Matters 4: Emergence of Forgotten Neighborhoods


Join us this March 20-22 for a conference on community-based approaches to solving issues of abandoned and underutilized properties in city neighborhoods. The conference brings to town experts in revitalization from Baltimore and Providence to share strategies with our local community organizers, city officials, developers, and individuals working for change in their neighborhoods.

Tuesday, March 20th

Kick-off Lecture

7 pm - Improving Our Health by Fixing Our Everyday World

Wednesday, March 21

Neighborhood Tours - Explore challenges, tour vacant properties and learn about the creative solutions some neighborhoods are employing to build community capital while reusing abandoned properties. Led by Community Organizers and Design Professionals.

A talk at the Downtown Community Forum, featuring Mark Cameron of the Baltimore Neighborhood Design Center and Linda Weisinger, Deputy Director of Providence-based SWAP (Stop Wasting Abandoned Properties).
Location: 15 St. Mary's Place

Thursday, March 22
Panel Workshops - Dialogues with local and national experts dealing with challenges of revitalizing vacant properties.
